The aim of the European Thinkers’ Lab is to give space for progressive visions for the European future based on already existing structures whose potential is not yet fulfilled.

For the first edition of the European Thinkers’ Lab in 2019 we have chosen the overarching topic Weimar Triangle (Weimarer Dreieck/ Trojkąt Weimarski/ Triangle de Weimar).

The Weimar Triangle was established in 1991 between the ministers of Foreign Affairs from France (Roland Dumas), Germany (Hans Dietrich Genscher) and Poland (Krzystof Skubiszewski). From the beginning it was thought to be a consultative forum to work together towards strong integrity in Europe.

Today, the trilateral forum has lost most of its use between governments, but none of its appeal to civil society actors who have the European integration in mind.

Based on this theme, the 2019 edition will be organized at venues  (universities) in Germany, France and Poland, but will invite everyone who has ideas on the future of the Weimar Triangle to participate.
